Panel Topic:  Sharing Economy

The shared economy has become big news in recent years as technology companies have leveraged the proliferation of smart phones to enable the participation of individuals to supply services. The two most cited examples are Uber and AirBNB who provide ground transportation and lodging. Key players discuss the impact of the Shared Economy on Corporate Travel Programs. They will review the pros and cons of a shared economy, in particular, the cost benefits, security and liability concerns and policy management. They will also consider the underlying demographics that may be driving activity towards these suppliers. The panel will take into consideration that many of the shared economy suppliers are in very public disputes with local regulations and traditional suppliers in the US and around the world. Some of these issues are centers around security and regulation whilst others are related to taxation
